Loess Hills Agriculture in the Classroom (LHAITC) is excited to announce the beginning of its fifth year of bringing hands-on, farm-centric programming to students in western Iowa. According to Program Coordinator Melanie Bruck, demand for quality agriculture education programs continues to rise, and she constantly hears from teachers wanting her lessons in their classrooms. Bruck says, “I see it every day in the eyes of the children I teach and in the interest of the teachers I work with. They’re excited about agriculture, and we are making a difference.” LHAITC launched five years ago in partnership with county Farm Bureaus in Carroll, Crawford, Harrison, Shelby, and Pottawattamie. Since the program began, Bruck has brought fun, ag-based lessons to more than 5,700 classrooms and over 32,000 students.
