Officials in Sac County are reminding motorists of a planned bridge closure south of Early scheduled to begin next week. Starting Monday, March 13, the crossing spanning the Boyer River on 270th Street between Jackson Avenue and U.S. Highway 71 will be impassable for approximately five weeks while crews complete a substantial overlay replacement project. Workers plan to mill the top layer of concrete from the deck, replace and repair damaged areas, and overlay the entire bridge with a new concrete sheet. Officials note the nearly mile-long stretch of road will likely be closed through mid-April, depending on weather conditions. A detour will be set up utilizing Highway 71 and County Road M43. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes while the project is underway. Residents with questions can reach out to the Sac County Road Department utilizing the contact points included below..
