An Irwin man was killed yesterday (Thursday) afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in northeastern Shelby County. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:01 p.m. on County Road M47 south of Irwin. Authorities say 20-year-old Grant Gaer of Irwin was traveling northbound in a 1995 Toyota Camry and crossed the centerline into the path of a southbound transport van. Grant sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the transport van were uninjured.
