The Carroll Young Professionals (CYP) are keeping the name, but the organization is adopting an entirely new approach to attracting prospective members in 2023. CYP is a Carroll Chamber of Commerce sub-group created to connect local entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders. The organization dwindled somewhat during COVID, but CYP Chair Amanda Riesberg says they are overhauling their operations in the 2023 relaunch.
One challenge CYP grapples with is the term “young professionals.” Riesberg says many people think that CYP might not be for them if they don’t work in an office or wear a suit daily. She says their target demographic is the “young-ish” and “professional-ish” crowd.
Riesberg says the focus is all about increased engagement in 2023, and they are working towards that goal through various informal social events mixed throughout the year.
Again, CYP’s next pop-up social is Friday, March 17 at Carroll Brewing Company, starting at 4:30 p.m. It can be daunting for some people to step outside of their comfort zone, but CYP Vice Chair Julie Lueth says their core group is very intentional about welcoming new faces.
