The recently formed Glidden-Ralston Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) invites parents and guardians from throughout the region to join them next week for an educational seminar on mental health concerns in school-age children. PTO Co-President Sarah Foley says student mental health has been a persistent concern for many parents, and their PTO saw an opportunity to learn together.

The presentation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21 at the Glidden-Ralston school gymnasium and features two speakers from the Seasons Center for Behavior Health: Bethany Walbaum, a trauma-informed care coordinator, and Billie Jo Hovick, the center’s care team lead. Foley says parents will learn about how pervasive depression, anxiety, and other issues are in young people and what parents and caregivers do to address those challenges.

While the Glidden-Ralston PTO hosts next week’s presentation, Foley says any parent, guardian, or family member is welcome to join.

The Mental Health Awareness Night is expected to last about an hour, and there will be time at the end for a question-and-answer session. Again, the PTO’s seminar begins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21 at the Glidden-Ralston school gym.
