Wall Lake city officials are looking at more improvements at the local recreation center after the first phase finished nearly a year ago.. According to City Administrator Chris Rodman, the East Sac County Elementary School in Wall Lake closed in 2020, and the city purchased it to build a rec center for community members. The center has been open for approximately a year now, and Rodman says when the city acquired the property for the renovations, it would be completed in phases.
Rodman says they are trying to finalize phase two of the project, but they are narrowing down the possibilities.
Rodman adds they would like to put in a couple of new basketball hoops and bleachers as well. He says city officials have applied for two grants to help pay for the second phase.
Rodman says the second phase could cost the city anywhere from $80,000 to $100,000, with most of that going toward the new bleachers. At this time, city officials have not determined when phase two will start. Rodman says the project will not require a bid as the public works department will be the lead contractor.
