The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education held a special meeting today (Friday) regarding stipends for staff for the early renewal of their contracts. According to Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau, school officials considered different options regarding compensation.
The bonus will be awarded to staff members who turn in their contracts early for the 2023-2024 school year. The stipend is only available to teachers returning to the district. Director of Business Affairs Nicole McCarville, not all of the district’s employees qualify for the stipend.
The board decided to give eligible employees a $500 bonus when they sign a new contract for next school year. However, there is one requirement for the staff to receive the money. To be eligible, they must sign the agreement within five school days of receiving it. Only four board members were in attendance at Friday’s meeting, with Karen Friedlein being absent. The board voted unanimously to pass the stipend for staff. The funds for the stipends will come out of the General Fund.
