The Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 maximum property tax dollars at their meeting today (Monday). According to Carroll County Auditor Kourtney Payer, the urban and rural tax levies are up compared to last Fiscal Year. FY24’s urban rate is $4.69065, while the rural levy is $8.01055 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuations. FY23’s urban levy was $4.30166, while the rural rate was $7.34381. Payer says the levies are up due to utilities, fuel costs, liability insurance, and salaries increasing. The county will bring in approximately $25.3 million in revenue. However, they are budgeted to spend roughly $30.2 million in expenditures. During Monday’s meeting, the supervisors also scheduled their public hearing on the FY24 budget. The hearing is scheduled for the supervisor’s Monday, April 10 meeting at 9:30 a.m.
