Carroll High School (CHS) students head to the state capitol today (Monday) to participate in the two-day-long State Mock Trial event. This state event is held yearly in Des Moines at the Veterans Memorial Convention Center, with 40 high school teams competing. Sydney Bellinghausen, a Junior at CHS, is one of the attorneys on the team and provides some background on mock trial.
Adrienne Wiley, a Junior at CHS, also plays an attorney. She says students are provided a case at the beginning of the year.
Wiley adds the mock trial team prepares for two to three months before going to a district competition, with winners advancing to state.
CHS started competing this morning (Monday). State Mock Trial last two days, with the top four teams moving on to tomorrow’s (Tuesday) competition. Jeff Hughes and Eric Neu coach the CHS Mock Trial team.
