Trial information has been filed in Carroll County District Court against a Carroll man accused of motor vehicle burglary and assault on a peace officer. Court records show 30-year-old Asher Dodd Herrin was indicted last week on charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree theft, and assault on a peace officer, all aggravated misdemeanors. The charges stem from a March 6 incident in the 100 block of N. West Street. Authorities allege Herrin had stolen clothing, headphones, bank cards, and cash from a vehicle parked outside a residence. Police arrested Herrin the following day in the 500 block of W. 3rd Street, and he injured an officer while resisting arrest by punching him in the head. Herrin was released on his own recognizance on March 8 and is scheduled to appear for an arraignment hearing on Thursday, April 13 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines for each count.
