The Carroll County Board of Supervisors approved the proposed Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) five-year program and budget during this (Monday) morning’s meeting. County Engineer Zac Andersen explains that the county approves this plan each year, and it lays out the rough roadmap for projects scheduled for the next five years.
According to Andersen, most of the county’s road projects are funded through state or federal programs, but the method by which they are paid varies greatly depending on the type of project and what funding source will be used.
Andersen says they have dozens of projects planned between Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 and FY 28, but the likelihood of completion drops somewhat the farther out they are. He says one of their main upcoming projects is along Birch Avenue south of Manning.
He notes two bridge replacements are also slated for FY24.
Looking further into the plan, Andersen says they are tentatively scheduled for pavement resurfacing for E26 between Mt. Carmel and Lidderdale in FY25. According to Andersen, the county has roughly $1 million of secondary roads construction work planned from FY24 through FY28. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously at Monday’s meeting to approve the five-year Iowa DOT Carroll County Program and Budget.
