Iowa Farmers Union Hosted Officials With Farm Rescue To Discuss Overcoming Illness, Injury, And Environmental Disasters As A Farmer

The Iowa Farmers Union hosted a Lunch & Learn today (Thursday), where they met with officials from Farm Rescue to discuss overcoming illness, injury, and environmental disasters as a farmer. Farm Rescue is a non-profit organization that helps agriculturalists who have experienced ailment, injury, or environmental disaster by providing the necessary equipment and volunteer workforce to help plant or harvest crops. Terry Johnston, Development Officer of the Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas region, says Farm Rescue helped over 80 family farms and ranches in his three-state region in 2022, and they are looking to help in other states.

Livestock feeding assistance is also available to ranchers. Johnston says individuals wanting to help or volunteer can visit the Farm Rescues website.

Farm Rescue has over 300 active volunteers. Individuals looking for assistance or want to volunteer can follow the link with this story online. Farm Rescue currently helps agriculture families in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Individuals wanting to sponsor or donate to the cause can contact Johnston. Those contact points and a link to the website can be found included with this story on our website.
