The Bayard Church of Christ will receive $11,200 from the 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County to help fund its 2023 Summer Food Program. The program aims to provide food to food-insecure children in Bayard, Bagley, Jamaica, and Yale and may expand to other areas if enough funds are available. Pastor and program organizer, Bob Rogers, says, “[We are] honored to receive these funds from the 10 Squared Women group. Guthrie and Greene are both counties that are high in food-insufficient children. The program will use entirely volunteer workers to produce and send out the food. School districts have their hands tied by many federal rules that make it difficult to run through the schools.” The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County members donate $100 quarterly to an organization or project that improves residents’ lives.
