A former East Sac County (ESC) High School teacher has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing one of her students during the 2021-2022 school year. Thirty-five-year-old Stefanie Regine Kelsey of Sac City was sentenced yesterday (Monday) on one count of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony, and one count of sexual exploitation by a school employee, a class D felony. Kelsey was initially charged with nine felony counts following her arrest by the Sac County Sheriff’s Office in March 2022. Authorities say Kelsey admitted to participating in sex acts with a 15-year-old male student at Hagge Park in a vehicle between Aug. 25, 2021, and March 4, 2022. In addition to the prison sentence, Kelsey will also be required to register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry following her release.
