The Carroll Young Professionals organization is set to host Tera Lawson, a Carroll native, leadership coach, and speaker, on Friday, April 14th. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with a social hour at Brother’s on Main in the business’s second story. CYP President Amanda Riesberg says Friday’s seminar presents a great networking opportunity for people at any level in an organization or company.

Lawson’s presentation is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. following the social. For the past 17 years, she has worked at Iowa State University as the Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching program coordinator and later as the Training, Development, and Outreach Coordinator for ISU Procurement Services. Riesberg says Lawson has done some remarkable things at the university and in the community during her time at ISU.

Lawson will speak about how anyone can lead and make a difference in their organization regardless of their job title or position. CYP as an organization is geared towards individuals between 21 and 45, but Chad Lawson, Tera’s brother and one of CYP’s members, says they are opening the “Leading from Any Level” presentation to a broader audience.

Again, the social hour begins at 4:30 p.m. at Brother’s on Main on Friday, April 14, and Lawson is scheduled to present starting at 5:30 p.m. CYP is always looking to engage with new members, and they have several other events coming up. On April 22, the group plans to gather at Swan Lake State Park to assist with Earth Day cleanups. On Saturday, April 29, they will meet at the Harold Bierl Community Room to assemble May Day baskets.
