Audubon City Officials approved the proposed Fiscal year (FY) 2024 city budget at Monday’s council meeting. According to City Administrator Joseph Foran, the city is looking to collect approximately $5.2 million in revenue, while total expenditures are roughly $5.8 million. Audubon’s FY24 maximum property tax levy is set at $19.54 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuation, which is up $1.14 for the previous Fiscal Year. Foran says the expenditures are higher due to capital improvements planned in FY24 around town, such as the pool. Due to an issue discovered in the property rollback formula, Audubon is expected to see an approximate $100,000 to the city’s overall tax base. With city officials approving the budget, the next step is to send it to the county auditor by the April 30th deadline.
