According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, motor fuel prices climbed higher over the past week. As of Wednesday, April 12th, the average cost for regular unleaded gasoline was $3.48 per gallon, which is 14 cents higher than last week’s price but 32 cents lower than one year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday was $3.62, a nine-cent increase on the week. Retail diesel prices in Iowa also climbed, rising three cents to a statewide average of $3.91 per gallon. However, it is still 82 cents lower than the diesel prices from one year ago. Current Iowa diesel prices are 30 cents less than the national average of $4.21. Wholesale ethanol prices remained steady and are currently priced at $2.16. In heating fuels, natural gas prices fell five cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.09/MMBtu.
