Children are invited to unleash their creative energy on Saturday at the soon-to-open Carroll Children’s Museum in Westgate Mall in downtown. Parents and their young children can draw on the facility’s walls from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The artwork will become part of the museum’s history forever but will be painted over before the museum’s opening, scheduled for later this summer or early fall. The Carroll Children’s Museum has applied for its 501(c)3 designation, and staff will be collecting freewill donations to help fund renovations to the former Christopher & Banks location in the mall. Founders Marcie Hircock and Amy Schumacher created the museum after noticing a need for indoor activities for younger children in the community. Once completed, the museum will feature STEM-related activities, a garden area, a climbing wall, and more to foster a love of learning.
