Bruce Perry, a board member of Sac County Economic and Tourism Development, was recognized as one of Iowa’s top rural leaders at the Iowa Rural Development Summit this week in Ames. Perry is well known for his contribution and dedication to the Sac City and Sac County communities, including involvement in multiple committees, boards, and organizations. He also serves on the Executive Board for the Iowa League of Cities, was past president of the Northwest Iowa League of Cities, and currently serves as president of Preservation Iowa. Perry is also very active and involved as a city councilman for Sac City, where he wrote many National Register nominations for historic properties in the area. In addition, he has authored numerous grants over the years to better the Sac City and Sac County communities. In 2020, he published a book titled “Sac County (Images of America)” and is considered an expert in the county’s history. A photo of Perry receiving his award is included below.
