Sac City officials are looking to approve site plans at the local airport that will help with future expansion at the site. The project is to expand on the current apron at the Sac City Municipal Airport. An apron is the flight line or tarmac where an aircraft can park, unload, refuel, and board passengers. According to City Administrator Jamie Lawrence, this project will allow for growth if needed.
Lawrence says most of the project is funded primarily through a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant.
Only one bid was submitted for the project from Godbersen-Smith Construction Company out of Ida Grove. Lawrence says the contractor’s bid was $527,464. The city provides up to ten percent of the bid, which is a $52,746.40 contribution to the project. However, when adding in engineering costs and other expenses, the project total reaches 721,168.75. Lawrence adds that at last week’s council meeting, the expansion project was tabled and is expected to be brought up at the next council meeting on Tuesday, April 25.
