At Monday’s meeting, the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education approved their 2023-2024 certified budget. The district’s overall property tax levy for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 is $9.88719 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuations. However, this is a 42-cent increase from FY23’s tax levy, which stood at $9.46853. According to the Director of Business Affairs, Nicole McCarville, many factors are causing an increase in the property tax levy.

The board expressed their pleasure in having a tax levy under $10, as most districts in the state are over that mark. The district’s expenditures are up compared to the previous Fiscal Year. FY24’s expenditures are over $30.5 million, which is a $1.9 million increase from FY23. McCarville says when you compare the two amounts, FY24 is a 4.9 percent increase from the last Fiscal Year.
