According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, fuel prices were up across the board on the week. As of Wednesday, April 19, the cost of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa had climbed by seven cents, averaging $3.55 per gallon. The national average for regular unleaded gasoline on Wednesday was $3.68, up 6 cents from last week. However, Iowa’s gasoline prices are 28 cents lower than in the same period the previous year. Retail diesel prices in Iowa increased by four cents this week, with the statewide average at $3.95 per gallon. The current Iowa diesel price is 25 cents lower than the national average of $4.20, and it is also 84 cents below the price for diesel one year ago. Wholesale ethanol prices held steady and were priced at $2.16 per gallon. Meanwhile, natural gas prices rose by 15 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $2.24 per MMBtu.
