Edith “Edie” Alice Kastl, age 93, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Regency Park in Carroll.

     Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Deacon Scott Steffen officiating.  Casket bearers will be Edith’s family members. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll where there will be a Rosary held at 5:30 P.M.  Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. on Saturday prior to the service.

     Edith was born on November 19, 1929 in Coon Rapids, IA, and she was the daughter of Max and Mary (Wanniger) Kastl. She grew up in Auburn where she graduated from high school in 1948.  Edith worked at the Deluxe Cleaners in Carroll for 20 years and later worked at the Super 8 Motel for 35 years.  Edie, as she was known to most, enjoyed socializing with her friends at the Moose Lodge, playing cards, and pulling the slot machines.

     Edith is survived by her daughter Jeanette Wegman (Robert) of Omaha; her grandchildren: Nick Wegman (Shannon) of Omaha, Bryan Wegman (Jessica) of Glen Carbon, IL, and Kyle Wegman of Omaha; four great-grandchildren: Casey, Nolan, Hollyn, and Hadley; and several nieces and nephews.

    Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her special friend Cletus Burgart; her brother John “Jack” Kastle (Selma); four sisters: Rose Snyder (Rudy), Ardella Heiman (Harold), Marcella Kern (Andy), Clara Warden (George); and nieces and nephews: Lois Steinkamp, David Kastle, Diane Miller, Clete Steinkamp, and Larry Kastle.
