United Way of Carroll’s Annual Baby Drive Returns This Weekend To Support Local Families

The United Way of Carroll’s annual Baby Drive returns this weekend, and the group encourages residents to join in their effort to support young families from their service area. According to Executive Director Jen Munson, volunteers will collect baby-related items, such as diapers, sippy cups, infant toys, and more, at Fareway and Walmart on Friday, April 28 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Munson says items collected and money raised benefit three local agencies.

Almost any baby-related product can be dropped off at Fareway or Walmart on Friday or Saturday. A list of the most needed items can be found included with this story on our website. Munson says not everyone can make it to those sites when volunteers are there, so they have set up donation sites throughout the county that people can visit all this week.

Donation jars will also be available at Bordenaro’s Meat Market, Westside State Bank, Western Iowa Networks, Commercial Savings Bank, Queen Beans, and Availa Bank. Last year’s drive collected over $1,800 for the Family Development Center, Family Resource Center, and Carroll County Nest, and the group is optimistic that they will be able to exceed that figure this time. Munson says the Baby Drive is just one of many volunteer opportunities available through the United Way, and she encourages people wanting to positively impact their community to get involved.
