Construction at the Carroll Recreation Center is proceeding as scheduled, and work on the elevated walking track should begin soon, necessitating the closure of the gymnasium for several months. Beginning Monday, May 15, the gym will be closed for the summer while the contractors install the necessary infrastructure for the much-requested addition at the Rec. City officials, community leaders, and the project’s primary contractor, Badding Construction, broke ground for the $7.35 million project in August 2022. Work includes extensive overhauls to the facility’s 50-year-old HVAC systems, the walking track, and locker room improvements. Substantial completion is scheduled for later this year in October.
