Lola was born on November 29, 1929, at home in Carroll County, Iowa, to Peter and Teresa (Goecke) Oswald. She spent her younger years in the Arcadia and Breda communities.

She was married to Cletus Heim on September 19, 1950, at St. Bernard Church in Breda. Lola lived with Cletus’s parents while he was in the Army in South Korea. Lola and Cletus farmed for about 4 years in Carroll County and then moved to Cherokee, IA, in 1959, the beginning of Cletus’s job with Walnut Grove Feed Company. After her children had grown, she had numerous jobs with a couple of favorites, the first being a home health care aide helping disabled and elderly in their homes and the other serving food, with complimentary bantering, to the college students at Briar Cliff College. After retirement, the couple moved back to Breda in 2002. Cletus passed away on July 2, 2004. Lola moved back to Sioux Falls in 2007.

Lola was a member of St. Theresa Parish in Sioux Falls at the time of her passing. During her lifetime she was a member of fourteen different parishes. Lola made over 3,000 chain and cord rosaries which she donated to many missions. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, crocheting, and knitting, an immaculate home, and extensive decorating, baking, and cooking for her family during the holidays. Her grandchildren were her greatest gifts and she never missed wishing each one a Happy Birthday.

She is survived by her children, Mary Jo (Butch) Martin of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bill (Kathie) Heim of Sioux Falls, S.D., Cristy (Rick) Larson of Central City, N.E., and Scott (Paula) Heim of Sioux Falls, S.D. and her son-in-law, Curt Clausen, of Grand Island N.E.
