The Jefferson Police Department is investigating a recent string of vandalism in the community resulting in thousands of dollars in damages. At approximately 3:40 p.m. Monday, a caller contacted law enforcement to report a group of juvenile males was breaking windows at the old Greene County Middle School, which is still owned by the Greene County Community School District, in the 200 block of W. Harrison Street. Upon arrival, officers identified at least 21 double-pane windows that had been shattered, totaling an estimated $8,000. Authorities have identified several subjects who are believed to be connected to other broken windows that had been reported recently in Jefferson.
