Marjorie Fetterer of Carroll

Marjorie Ellen Fetterer, age 89, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Swan Place of Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating.  Organist for the service will be Nancy Davis.  Casket bearers will be Marjorie’s family.  Burial will be in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Westboro, Missouri.

Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:45  A.M. prior to the service.

Marjorie was born August 20, 1933 in Westboro, MO, the daughter of Lee Nels and Dora Mae (Howard) Nelson. She attended North Polk Country School and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1951. Marjorie attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO.  On November 26, 1954 she married Richard T. Fetterer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westboro, MO. They went on to have two sons and one daughter together.  Marge worked as a switchboard operator and in education. Most of her life was dedicated to caring for and enriching the lives of children, either through providing childcare or teaching. When her sons were young, she was a Cub Scout pack leader as well as a Brownie leader when her daughter was young. As long as she was able, Marge was also quite active in her church community at the First United Methodist Church.

Marge is survived by her son Richard L. Fetterer and wife DeeAnn of Naples, FL: daughter Kathryn B. John of Eden Prairie, MN; four sisters: Lyllis Vette of Westboro, MO, Mildred Hurst and husband Charlie of Tarkio, MO, Mary Ann Ohrt, Westboro, MO, and Debbie Martin and husband Charlie, Tarkio, MO; one brother Larry Nelson and wife Linda of Warsaw, MO; four grandchildren: Jarod John and wife Sarah of Chanhassen, MN, Joshua and Jacob John of Eden Prairie MN, and Mason Fetterer of Naples, FL; two great-grandchildren Gabriel Lee and Ezra John.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, a son James, grandson Jonathan and two brothers, Maurice and Kenneth Nelson.
