Fuel prices were down across the board over the past week, according to the latest report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, May 3, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was down seven cents to $3.40. That is 50 cents lower than prices from a year ago and 19 cents below the national average, which stood at $3.59 per gallon. Iowa diesel prices were down five cents on the week to $3.86 per gallon. National prices outpaced Iowa’s by 25 cents at $4.11. A year ago, diesel prices in Iowa averaged $5.24 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site dropped 21 cents to $2.13 per MMBtu.
