Lake View city officials are halfway done or wrapping up two water projects to help with the quality within city limits. According to City Administrator Scott Peterson, the water main project along Highway 175 is still under construction.
The contractor for the Highway 175 project is Jet Drain & Excavating out of Ames, and they have been working on the main for a little over a month. Peterson says they are making substantial progress on the project, and should be finished in two weeks. The total cost of the project was $113,035. Peterson adds that the project was paid mainly from a Federal Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant, and the rest came from Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds. The second water project occurred in the northwest part of Lake View, and Peterson says they knew there were problems with water in that portion of town for decades.
Peterson says the project just wrapped up and came together fantastically. The project was done by GM Contracting. He adds most of the project was paid through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and cost a total of $210,000. At Monday’s council meeting, members approved two pay estimates for the contractors of each project, leaving them with very little left to pay.
