At Monday’s Glidden City Council meeting, officials approved a lot donation supporting the Region XII Council of Governments 2023 Workforce Housing Tax Credit Application. According to City Administrator Brooke Peterson, Glidden has worked in close partnership with Region XII for several years, and whenever a project like this comes up, they are willing to jump on board. She says the project does address some concerns in the community.
Peterson adds the lot the city is donating has been vacated for approximately 15 years.
This project will go into effect if Region XII is awarded the grant. Peterson says the construction of the project will come at no cost to the city, but there will be some areas they need to finance.
Peterson says one of the things Glidden struggles with is workforce housing, and this program would address that issue. Peterson adds if the city can overcome this concern one house at a time, she is willing to help in any way.
