The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced last week that the City of Carroll had been awarded a $2,570 grant to expand marketing for next month’s Kick It Up soccer tournament. The tournament was first held in 2021 and targets boys and girls competing in the U10, U12, and U14 classes. City officials hope to see the tournament grow into a summertime draw for Iowa teams, similar to the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Court Classic held each February. The funds awarded through the Sports Tourism Marketing grant will be used to bring existing marketing to the Sioux City, Des Moines, Ames, Council Bluffs, and Omaha areas.
