The Carroll Police Department reports officers arrested a Florida man yesterday (Wednesday) in connection to an alleged pickpocketing scheme. According to Carroll County District Court records, 56-year-old Jose Gregerio Diaz-Nunez of Hallandale, Fl. was booked into the Carroll County jail on one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony, and additional charges are pending. Authorities say Diaz-Nunez and an unidentified male worked together on April 30 to distract a female shopper at Walmart while the other stole her wallet from her purse. The pair then used the victim’s stolen credit card to purchase more than $ 1,500 worth of items from Walmart, Walgreens, and BP Country Store. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
