According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, Iowans saw some relief at the pump over the past week as gas prices slipped lower. As of Wednesday, May 10, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.33 per gallon, a seven-cent drop from last week and 75 cents lower than a year ago. Iowa prices held 20 cents below the national average, which dipped six cents to $3.53 per gallon. Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell nine cents this week to a statewide average of $3.77 per gallon, compared to $5.31 per gallon this time last year. The national average for diesel on Wednesday stood at $4.05. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16. As for heating fuels, natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site climbed by six cents and are currently priced at $2.19 per MMBtu.
