Clarence, the son Arnold and Edna (Boes) Ziegmann was born on August 8, 1938, in Sac County, Iowa. He grew up in Sac County and graduated from Lake View High School. After high school Clarence was drafted into the United States Army serving in Germany as a Medic. He had many stories of his years in the service and his travels in Europe during that time.
On February 13, 1965, Clarence was married to Lucille Peter. The couple made their home in Breda where Clarence started Breda T.V. Service. In addition to the T.V. Service he removed snow and performed odd jobs for many people.
Clarence enjoyed gardening, and camping with his family, which was the only time he wasn’t working. Lucille passed away in 1995 after battling cancer. Clarence was an amazing caretaker for Lucille during her illness.
Clarence was married to Judy Bauer on April 25, 1997. They made their home in Carroll where he enjoyed caring for his yard and feeding the birds, chasing off the occasional squirrel. He enjoyed Judy’s daycare children and was “Poppa Ziggy” to them. Clarence was again a caregiver to Judy with her battle with cancer before she passed away from the illness in 2018. Clarence was a jack of all trades, fixing everything, painting, and doing odd jobs. Clarence was proud of how hard he could work and often said that he could outwork someone half of his age.
Clarence and Judy volunteered with the Kuemper Phone-a-thon for many years. He enjoyed playing cards and games, unless he was losing, to which many swear words were said, or accusations of cheating. He loved to pass out his scotcharoo bars, bringing them to the doctor’s office, the bank, the mailman, and making it to Minnesota. Clarence claimed these were the best in Carroll County. Clarence will be remembered as a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother and caretaker who will be greatly missed by his family.
Clarence is survived by his children: Monda (Stewart) Duncan of Florida, Cathy (Dave) Pederson of Minnesota, and Beth (Justin Larson) Ziegmann of Des Moines; six grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; his step-children: Mark (Melanie) Bauer of Templeton, Doug Bauer of Lidderdale, Jill (Randy) Heithoff of Roselle, Jeff (Alison) Bauer of Carroll, Mary (Chris) Neal of Marion, Jean Riesberg of Maple River, Pat Stevens of Ankeny, 12 step-grandchildren; a brother, Duane (Marie) Ziegmann of Colorado, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Edna, his wife Lucille, his wife Judy, and his siblings: Jeanette, Marvin, Violet, and Marilyn.
