Several people have reported receiving letters claiming to be from “County Deed Records” indicating the property owner’s home warranty will be expiring soon. The mailing also includes a $199 renewal voucher and pressures recipients to renew their coverage or be exposed to potential repair costs. The Iowa County Recorders Association and Iowa Land Records confirm this effort is indeed a scam and strongly encourage Iowans not to respond to the letter in any way. If contact seems suspicious, whether over the phone, by mail, or in person, the best practice is to research the issue before paying any claimed back-due balance.
