Lakeside Man Held On $60,000 Bond On Drug Trafficking Allegations

A Lakeside man is being held on a more than $60,000 bond on alleged drug trafficking charges in Buena Vista County. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, the charges against 43-year-old Yulieskis Hechavarria Rojas stemmed from a routine traffic stop yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon. A Storm Lake Police K9 indicated the presence of narcotics in the Rojas vehicle. A subsequent search revealed methamphetamine packaged for sale and various pieces of drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody without incident and booked on charges of controlled substance violation and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, class B felonies, and two counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony. As of this (Wednesday) morning, Rojas remained in custody on the $60,300 surety bond. He faces a lengthy prison sentence of up to 60 years maximum if convicted.
