A local Carroll business is inviting residents to stay active during the month of May while supporting local Vietnam Veterans. Anne Collison, owner of Basic Fitness Studio in downtown Carroll every month tries to challenge her clients to reach different exercise goals. She says the challenges go hand and hand to help raise money for local organizations or causes. Collison says May’s challenge is centered around Vietnam Veterans.

May’s challenge is called Steps for Vets. Participants paid $10 to enter to walk 10,000 steps a day. Collison adds all the money raised will go towards hosting an event in the fall to recognize the Vietnam Veterans. Collison says it started as a small challenge and quickly grew more prominent.

Collison says with the popularity in the community, the challenge might be extended. As of today (Friday), approximately 40 individuals have signed up for the challenge, and already 190,000 steps have been walked per person. Collison says even though the month of May is half over, individuals can still sign up for the challenge.
