The Carroll County Board of Health has been recognized by the Iowa Environmental Health Association (IEHA) for their commitment to the communities they serve. The 2022-23 Outstanding Service Award was presented to the local board this spring during the IEHA Public Health Conference in Ames. Program Director, Maggie Pauley, says the board consists of volunteers who commit a significant amount of time to their operations, including public health programming, environmental health, and home care aides.

According to Pauley, Carroll County Public Health has undergone significant operational overhauls over the last year, and this award recognizes the many hours the board and staff have committed to making the adjustment as smooth as possible.

Historically, county public health programs have been mostly out of the public’s eye, but Pauley says they are much more front and center now regarding policy and services following the COVID-19 pandemic.
