The Storm Lake Police Department reports a 17-year-old female has been arrested for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to kill another child. According to authorities, staff from the parody website, www.rentahitman.com, contacted local officials regarding a subject that had visited the site and attempted to solicit the murder of a seven-year-old minor on at least two occasions. Investigators identified the target victim as well as a potential suspect. An undercover officer posed as a hitman and made contact with the teen, confirming she legitimately wanted to hire a hitman. The teen was arrested on a charge of solicitation to commit murder, a class C felony, and transported to the YES Center in Cherokee, where she was held. The Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office and Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Storm Lake Police Department throughout the investigation, which remains ongoing.
