Fuel prices declined slightly across the state over the past week, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, June 7, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline dropped two cents to $3.35 per gallon. Wednesday’s prices are 89 cents lower than prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday slipped three cents to $3.55 per gallon. It was similar in the Iowa retail diesel market, as prices fell three cents on average to $3.67 per gallon. Last year, the mean price for a gallon of diesel was nearly $1.60 higher at $5.26. Local prices remain 25 cents below the national average of $3.92 per gallon. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged from $2.16 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site held steady at $2.31 per MMBtu.
