A Manning man accused of stealing a pickup truck from a church parking lot last fall has reached a plea agreement with county prosecutors. According to Carroll County District Court records, 37-year-old Michael William Alexander was taken into custody following a joint investigation by the Manning Police Department and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office into a 1996 Ford F150 that had been reported missing from the Zion Lutheran Church lot on Nov. 30, 2022. Authorities connected the stolen truck to Alexander by matching a boot print found in the snow near where it had been parked and where it was located at a Kirkman residence with ties to Alexander. He pled guilty Wednesday to second-degree theft, a class D felony, and is awaiting a sentencing hearing. A class D felony in Iowa carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
