The Carroll City Council is expected to approve a $3.55 million bid for the Adams Street Construction project at their meeting on Monday. Rasch Construction, Inc. of Fort Dodge beat the construction estimate from McClure Engineering by nearly $200,000. After the design and legal costs are factored in, the project’s total cost is estimated at $3,891,410. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says he and city staff were very pleased with the bid results.

This is the first total street reconstruction the city has completed, and it will include sewer and water infrastructure updates in addition to the new roadbed. Kooiker says the council will also review and consider a Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 renewal for liability, property, and workers’ compensation insurance.

He adds city officials’ attention will briefly return to the recently completed street maintenance garage on the corner of 3rd and Maple Streets for closeout work at the site.

This request includes asphalt replacement around the old maintenance shed, a vertical conveyer, pressure washers, vehicle lift systems, and more. Other items on Monday’s agenda include the first reading of an ordinance amending the city’s downtown Urban Renewal Plan, proposed rehabilitation work at one of the city’s water wells, a DOT bridge inspection contract, and updates to the city’s existing housing incentive program. The city council convenes at 5:15 p.m. on Monday, June 12 at Carroll City Hall. The meeting is open to the public and will also be live-streamed via the City of Carroll’s YouTube page.
