Formal charges were filed this week in Carroll County District Court against a Carroll man accused of severely injuring two young children at a Carroll apartment near the end of last month. According to trial information filed Tuesday, 28-year-old Eduardo Jose Olivo faces two counts of child endangerment resulting in serious injury, a class C felony. An affidavit from the Carroll Police Department alleges Olivo struck a two-year-old female child in the arm on the evening of May 21 at his residence in the 700 block of E. 18th Street, leading to an arm fracture. Only a few hours later during the early morning of May 22, Olivo is accused of striking a four-day-old infant, breaking the newborn’s left femur. Olivo’s arraignment hearing is scheduled for Friday, June 16 at the Carroll County courthouse next week. As of yesterday (Friday) morning, he remained in custody at the Carroll County jail. Each class C felony count carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
