Bonnie Hein of Carroll

Bonnie Hein, 89 of Carroll, died peacefully, early Monday morning, June 12, 2023, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton.  The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott.  Music will be by Hannah Kerkhoff and the Templeton Men’s Choir.  Lector for the Funeral Mass will be Sara Albrecht.  Gift Bearers will be Samantha Gallup and Lauren Mueller.  Eucharistic Minister will be Kathy Stein.  Casket Bearers will be Danny Granatell, Charlie Granatell, David Blum, Drew Hunt, Nolan Nepple, Nicholas Billmeier, Porter Nepple, and Dawson Billmeier.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton.

Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton from 10-10:45 a.m. on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass.

Bonnie’s family requests no flowers; should one desire, memorials may be left at the church for a later designation.

Born on May 14, 1934, in Templeton, Iowa, Bonnie Mae was the daughter of Joseph “Stoggie” and Rosalia “Mep” (Kasperbauer) Irlmeier.  She spent her younger years in Templeton, graduating in 1941 from Sacred Heart School.   Bonnie furthered her education at St. Mary’s College in Omaha where she earned a degree in education.  She taught school for 2 years and then was united in marriage to Jerry Hein on August 29, 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska.  Jerry’s career with General Motors took the couple to Denver, Colorado; Dallas, Texas; Los Angeles, California; Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; and Dayton, Ohio.  In 1992, the couple moved back to Carroll.  Jerry passed away in 1995.

Bonnie was a member of Holy Spirit Church.  She enjoyed golfing, needlepoint, gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Lynn Schroeder and her husband Rick of Denver, CO, Lexie Granatell of Franklin Lakes, NJ, and Laurie Blum and husband Joe of Carroll; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; her sisters-in-law: Pauline Irlmeier and Lorraine Slane; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry Hein; her sister, Linda (Ray) Billmeier; her brother, Duane Irlmeier; and her niece, Sheila Schoeppner.
