According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and AAA-Iowa, motor fuel prices in Iowa slipped a few cents higher over the past week. As of Wednesday, June 21, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline reached $3.38 per gallon, two cents higher than last week and $1.32 lower than the price one year ago. The national average for gas on Wednesday was $3.58 per gallon, down one cent on the week. Retail diesel prices in Iowa saw a one-cent increase, averaging $3.64 per gallon. In comparison, diesel prices one year ago averaged $5.41 in Iowa. The current local diesel prices are 26 cents lower than the national average of $3.90. Wholesale ethanol prices remained steady at $2.16. In heating fuels, natural gas prices rose by 24 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site, currently priced at $2.58 per MMBtu.
