At last night’s (Thursday) Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education meeting, school officials formally approved the resignation of Director of Teaching and Learning, Karinne Tharaldson. Tharaldson’s tenure at CCSD included efforts to align teaching goals across buildings and grade levels, broaden the district’s implementation of the Teacher Leadership and Compensation (TLC) program, and more. A substantial investigation into teacher complaints also marked her time with the district launched following an April 2022 meeting that drew more than 100 teachers, parents, and stakeholders concerned about the lack of response over staff concerns and a perceived decline in staff morale. Her resignation comes almost two years from the date she joined the district’s administrative staff on July 1, 2021. School officials note her decision was not submitted in lieu of termination.
