A Carroll man accused of brutally assaulting a woman earlier this year has been scheduled for trial in September. According to Carroll County District Court records, 22-year-old Jaquon Terrion Renard Thomas has pled not guilty to one count of willful injury, a class C felony. The charge stems from a Feb. 4 incident at an apartment in the 700 block of E. 18th Street. A Carroll Police Department investigation found Thomas had used a glass liquor bottle to strike the victim in the face, causing multiple injuries, including fractured teeth, bruising, and lacerations requiring stitches. Thomas’ jury trial is set to begin on Sept. 12 at the Carroll County Courthouse, with a pretrial conference slated for Sept. 5. A class C felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
