A Carroll man arrested for allegedly seriously injuring two young children in May is scheduled to go before a jury in September. Carroll County District Court records show 29-year-old Eduardo Jose Olivo is charged with two counts of child endangerment, a class C felony, in connection to a May 22 incident at an apartment in the 600 block of E. 18th Street. A Carroll Police Department Investigation found Olivo struck a four-day-old infant in the leg, breaking the baby’s femur. Authorities say he also hit a four-year-old child’s hand with enough force to break the victim’s right arm. Olivo filed his not-guilty pleas with the court earlier this month. A judge signed an order scheduling his trial for Sept. 12. A pretrial conference is slated for Sept. 5. Olivo faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and $20,000 in fines if convicted of the charges.
