The IKM-Manning School Board has announced a public forum to discuss a possible general obligation bond vote tentatively planned for November. The meeting will take place on Monday, July 17, at 6 p.m. in the IKM-Manning High School Auditorium. The bond would primarily focus on enhancing facilities within the district. The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions regarding the bond’s potential contents on the November ballot. School board members and administrators will be present to address questions and facilitate discussions. Attendees wishing to speak will have three minutes to express their views, with the board reserving the right to adjust the time as necessary. Board President Luke Potthoff says, “The IKM-Manning school district is excited to continue pushing forward in giving our students the best hands-on learning environment to prepare them for life after high school. Improving our facilities is not only for the students, but it is extremely important for our staff and faculty to have the tools necessary to provide an excellent education for all students. We value the thoughts of everyone in our district and are excited to hear ideas about how we can come together to ensure our students are getting the best possible opportunities we can provide them.” This potential vote comes less than a year after IKM-Manning voters approved a $7.9 million tax revenue bond for improvements by a wide margin in March. Individuals unable to attend the public forum can submit their comments to Superintendent Trevor Miller at tmiller@ikm-manning.k12.ia.us or Board Secretary Mallory Meyer at mmeyer@ikm-manning.k12.ia.us before the July 17 forum. Following the public forum, the regular July school board meeting will be held in the IKM-Manning High School Library.
